ARAPAHOE -- Dorothy L. Dickmeyer, 76, of Arapahoe, died Tuesday (Nov. 18, 2008) at the Elwood Care Center in Elwood.

She was born Dec. 10, 1931, in Gosper County to Frank W. and Margaret (Monter) Petermann. She graduated from Arapahoe High School with the class of 1949. After school she worked for Kerr Plastics in Hastings.

On Aug. 1, 1954, she married Leon Dickmeyer at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gosper County. They made their home north of Arapahoe and farmed there for many years. She moved into the Elwood Care Center in 2007 after health complications. She refinishing furniture and helped her husband on the farm.

She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Arapahoe where she also served on Lutheran Women Mission League and the Adult Choir. She also helped out at the Mission Mall in Arapahoe.

She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Ervin and Oscar Petermann and brother-in-law, Art Ziebell.

Survivors include her husband, Leon Dickmeyer of Arapahoe; son, Danny Lee and wife, Becky Dickmeyer of Golden, Colo.; daughter, Debra Ann Cayler of Broomfield; brothers, Martin and wife, Norma Petermann of Holdrege and Ken and wife, Colleen Petermann of Ravenna; sisters, Alice Ziebell of Chula Vista, Calif., and Gladys and husband, Armin Leising of Arapahoe; sister-in-laws, Annabelle Eland and Beata Petermann of Arapahoe; and four grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 2 p.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church in Arapahoe with the Rev. David Otten officiating. Interment will be at the Arapahoe Cemetery.

Viewing and visitation is today until 8 p.m., and Friday from 9 a.m. - 8 p.m., at Wenburg Funeral Home in Arapahoe and prior to the service at the church.
