Dale B. Neiman

Dale B. Neiman died Wednesday Oct. 22, 2008, at the Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook at the age of 87.

He was born Dec. 23, 1920, in a sod house south of Curtis, Neb., the son of the late Leslie and Lillian (Dueland) Neiman. Dale grew up in the McCook area and attended McCook Sr. High School. Dale worked for seven years in a garage that his father owned.

On June 23, 1942, Dale enlisted in the United States Army at Fort Crook, Neb. He served with the 761st Army Postal Unite and drove mail trucks in North Africa and was a Postal Clerk in Italy. He received his honorable discharge on Dec. 2, 1945, he returned to McCook where he was a rural mail carrier.

On July 9, 1950, Dale married Barbara Louise Toohey of Cheyenne, Wyo., they were married in McCook. He opened Dales TV & Radio repair that he owned and operated for more than 20 years in the home he built for he and his wife. Dale also worked at Montgomery Ward and Stickney's as an electronic repairman until they closed. He worked in the oil fields until he was disabled and had to retire. They spent their married lives in McCook.

He was a life member of the VFW.

Dale was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara on Mothers Day on May 11, 1997.

He lived in his home until moving to Hillcrest Nursing Home in June 2008.

Dale is survived by three sons, Mike Neiman and wife Vicki of Hastings, Neb., Jerry D. Neiman of McCook, Neb., and Ben Neiman of Plattsmouth, Neb.; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Byron Neiman and wife, Helen of North Platte, Neb., Kenneth Neiman and wife, Betty of Littleton, Colo.; one sister, Dixie Hill of McCook, Neb.; and relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 25, 2008, with Tom Volz officiating. Cremation will follow the service and inurnment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Memorials may be given in his name and friends may call at Herrmann Funeral Home from 9 a.m.-9 p.m.
