HERNDON -- Ann Martin, 91, died Thursday (Aug. 28, 2008) at Decatur County Hospital in Oberlin.

She was born Aug. 7, 1917, on a farm near Beardsley, Kan., to Adam and Hester (Rooney) Haller. She grew up on the farm and attended Beardsley Country School.

On April 20, 1937, she married August Martin in Beardsley. They lived on a farm north of Herndon where she was a homemaker. She moved to to Herndon in 1978.

She was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church and Altar Society, Herndon Senior Citizens, Herndon Library Board, Richland Club, Silver Haired Legislature, Precinct Republican Committee and Rawlins County Extension Board.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Adam and Hester Haller; husband, August Martin; and nine siblings, Paul, Andrew, John, Nick, Hubart, Louis Haller, Marie Eby, Theresa Able and Ruth Prettyman.

Survivors include her sons, Robert and wife, Liane Martin of Herndon, Richard and wife, Bette of Lebanon, John and wife, Fontella Martin of El Paso, Texas and Henry and wife, Lorri Martin of Herndon; daughters, Julia and husband, John Geisinger of Selden, Kan., Cecilia and husband, Ron Lehman of Tribune, Kan., Lucille and husband, Don "Butch" Evans of McCook and Irma and husband, Terry Schreiber of Scottsdale, Ariz.; brothers, Jake and wife, Junita Haller of Richland, Mo., Charles and wife, Patricia Haller of Fort Lupton, Colo., Joe Haller of Cedar City, Utah and Pat and wife, Elsie Haller of Hemmingford; sister, Monica Adams of Landers, Calif.; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Haller of Cedar City and Phyllis Haller of Alliance; 24 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be Monday, 10:30 a.m., at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Herndon with the Rev. Daniel Scheetz officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery at Herndon.

Visitation will be Sunday from 1-4 p.m., at Pauls Funeral Home in Oberlin and from 5-8 p.m., at the church. A vigil service will be Sunday at 7 p.m., at the church.

Memorials may be given in her name.
