ARAPAHOE -- Marjorie A. Gardner, 87, died Saturday (July 26, 2008) at Good Samaritan Center in Arapahoe.

She was born Sept. 7, 1925, in Gosper County to William F. and Lizzie J. (Schuetz) Stagemeyer. She attended Arapahoe High School and graduated in 1938.

She married Vernon Dale Gardner on May 9, 1945, at Norton, Kan. They farmed in the Arapahoe and Edison area until retiring in 1993. They moved into Arapahoe and lived there for 25 years. They also lived in South Texas during the winter months. Her husband died Aug. 8, 2004.

She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and Lutheran Women's Mission League of Arapahoe. She also was a member of the neighborhood Ever-Ready Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Vernon Dale; infant sister; granddaughter, Brittany Gardner; and great-granddaughter Katrina Gardner.

She is survived by sons, Dennis and wife, Margie Gardner of Arapahoe; Terry and wife, Laurie Gardner of Hillsboro, Ore., and Ron and wife, Darcy Gardner of Edison; brothers, Dean and wife, Carolyn Stagemeyer of Longview, Wash., and Glenn and wife, Ardy Stagemeyer of Lebanon, Ore.; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, 10 a.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church in Arapahoe, with the Rev. Dale Hedstrom officiating. Burial will be at the Arapahoe Cemetery.

Visitation is today until 8 p.m., at Wenburg Funeral Home in Arapahoe and prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Condolences and personal reflections may be left at www.wenburgfuneralhome.com.
