OBERLIN -- Lois Eckhart, 93, died Thursday (July 3, 2008) at the Cedar Living Center in Oberlin.

She was born Jan. 2, 1915, in rural Norcatur, Kan., to Charles A. and Elizabeth (Rachow) Eckhart. She was raised on a farm southwest of Norcatur and attended Prairie Hill Rural School District No. 46 and graduated from Norcatur Rural High School in 1933.

She was a teacher and served as the Deputy County Superintendent of Schools. She moved to Oberlin in 1944.

She was a member of the Oberlin United Methodist Church where she served as church secretary. She also was a member of the United Methodist Women and Business and Professional Women.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Lee E. Eckhart.

She has no survivors.

Services will be Tuesday, 10:30 a.m., at the Norcatur Methodist Church with the Rev. Doug Hasty officiating. Interment will be at the Norcatur Cemetery.

Visitation is Monday, 10 a.m.-8 p.m., at Pauls Funeral Home in Oberlin and will continue Tuesday at the church in Norcatur from 8 a.m., until the time of the service.

Memorials may be directed to the Decatur County Fair Association.
