OBERLIN -- Helena Bruggeman, 85, died Wednesday (May 7, 2008) at Decatur County Hospital.

She was born Aug. 22, 1922, at Grinnell, Kan., to William and Regina (Robben) Baalman. She was raised and attended school in Grinnell.

On Oct. 7, 1952, she married Clarence J. Bruggeman at Leoville. They farmed near Leoville and then moved to Oberlin. She was a homemaker.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Altar Society.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and six siblings.

Survivors include two sons, Larry Bruggeman of Colby, Kan., and Gary and wife, Alvera Brugeman of Oberlin; two daughters, Regina and husband, Joe Stanley of Oberlin and JoAnn and husband, Bob Shuler of Larned, Kan.; a sister, Martha Horinek of Atwood; and six grandchildren.

Services are pending with Pauls Funeral Home of Oberlin, which is in charge of arrangements.

Services will be Saturday, 10 a.m., at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oberlin with the Rev. Harry Saw Lone officiating. Interment will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Leoville.

Visitation is today until 8 p.m. at Pauls Funeral Home in Oberlin with a vigil service at 7 p.m.

Memorials may be made for Massses, CLC or to the Leoville Cemetery Fund.
