Ten Seng

Ten Seng of McCook, Neb., and Phoenix, Ariz., passed away on Sunday morning of April 6, 2008, at the wonderful age of 88.

He was born in the province of Kampot, Cambodia on Jan. 2, 1920. He met his beautiful bride in the neighboring town at the age of 18 and they had a wonderful life together for 70 years. He was very active in his community. He served on the community council. Ten Seng was the county defense minister and was the town counselor.

Ten Seng and his family, wife Phou Neang; sons, Vath, Ta, Soke, Kear, Ty; and daughters, Vouch, Ye, Mome, Nora and Poe were sponsored by Our Savior's Lutheran Church of McCook, Neb., to America in December of 1976. He resided in McCook since December of 1976. He established many good friends in his community and in other states.

He was full of life and always enjoyed the gathering among friends and family. He was very well known among his peers, friends and family as generous, caring and wise and was respected as a problem solver and a person with good advice and support. He was a caring and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

He was employed at the Chief Restaurant and McCook hose plant. He was a fisherman in the area of Corpus Christi and Houston, Texas for about four years until his retirement in 1985.

Since the retirement, Ten Seng enjoyed visiting with all his children, grandchildren, and great-grand children in various parts of the country. He loved to plant a garden, taking care of his fruit trees and his yard during the summer months around his residence at 903 East First, McCook.

Fishing in Red Willow Lake was his favorite past time enjoyment. He enjoyed hunting with his friends in every hunting season. Ten Seng spent many winter months in Arizona with his children. He became so fond of this area that he wished to make it his permanent place.

He is survived by his wife, Phou Neang; sister, Nay Eng Tin of Indianapolis, Ind.; oldest son, Vath Heng of Phoenix, Ariz.; son, Sy Seng of Cambodia; oldest daughter, Vouch Chhor of Phoenix Ariz.; daughter Ye Wilson of McCook; son, Ta Seng of San Francisco Calif.; son, Soke Seng of Phoenix Ariz.; son Kear Seng of Glendale Ariz.; daughter, Mome Seng of Hastings; daughter, Nora Stuckwisch of Salina Kan.; son, Ty Seng of Phoenix Ariz.; daughter, Poe Newby of Omaha; four sons-in-law; six daughters-in-law; 11 grandsons; eight granddaughters; five great-grandsons; two granddaughters in-law; and one great-granddaughter.

Services were Saturday, April 12, at Our Savior Lutheran Church at 1212 East Glendale Ave., Phoenix, AZ 85020 and his final resting place was at Resthaven Park Cemetery in Glendale, Ariz.
