INDIANOLA -- Jane "Jean" Elizabeth Carmichael died Wednesday, April 2, 2008, at her home in Indianola. She was 76.

She was born in New York City, N.Y., on June 30, 1931, to John and Mary Gorycki. She graduated in 1948 in New York.

She married Marion Ardell Carmichael on May 5, 1951, in New York City. To this union, three children were born. After raising their family in New York City, they retired to Indianola in 1980. She enjoyed playing cards, traveling, and spending time with her grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was a member of St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Indianola and the American Legion Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary; three brothers, Frank, Tony and Ed Gorycki; and one sister, Helen Hurst.

She is survived by her husband, Marion Carmichael of Indianola; sons, Martin Carmichael and wife, Barbara of Spring, Texas and Pat Carmichael of New York City; daughter, Deb Wooley of Spring, Texas; sisters, Stella Contegni and husband, Joe, Wanda Gorycki and Sophie Pontiatowski, all of New York City; brother-in-law, Ted Hurst of Centereach, N.Y.; sisters-in-law, Alyce Stritt and Wilma Liess of McCook and Bonnie Murkowski of Farmingdale, N.Y.; three grandchildren, Jason Wooley, Stephen Wooley and Thomas Carmichael; and nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, 11 a.m., at St. Catherine's Catholic Church with Father Thomas McGuire as Celebrant. Rosary is today 7 p.m., at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home. Burial will be in Fort McPherson National Cemetery in Maxwell at 2:15 p.m.
