ELWOOD -- Lowell Victor Hansen, 83, of Brush, formerly of Boulder, Colo., died Monday (Jan. 21, 2008) at Eben Ezer Skilled Nursing Center at Brush.

He was born Dec. 25, 1924, at Elwood to Otto and Elizabeth (DeBoer) Hansen. He attended Elwood High School and graduated in 1942.

In 1943, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served during World War II in England with 390th Bomb brigade and flew 25 missions as a tail gunner on a B-17 airplane. In 1945, he was discharged and moved back to Elwood.

On July 17, 1945, he married Inez Corder in Norton, Kan. He attended Tech School at Milford and became a licensed Heating and Air Conditioning Technician. They moved to Boulder where he worked for Dow Chemical for a few years. He then started and ran Boulder Refrigeration for 40 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Inez Hansen of of Boulder; sons, Eric Hansen of Santa Fe, Texas, Mark Hansen of Belton, Texas and Kim Hansen of Frederickson, Texas; daughter, Lynne Hansen of Lafayette, Colo.; brothers, Howard Hansen of Jacksonville, Fla., and Donald Hansen of St. Charles, Mo.; sisters, Aletha and husband, Carroll Schroeder of Eustis, Dorothy and husband, Enest Fiene of Elwood and Lola and husband, Bill Debban of Elwood; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be Friday, 10 a.m., at Elwood Funeral Home in Elwood, with Donald Hansen officiating. Burial will be at the Elwood Cemetery, with military rites given by the American Legion Post No. 290 of Elwood.
