McKillip, Greenhaw wedding
HAMLET -- Ashley Nicole McKillip of Hayes Center and Carson Aden Greenhaw of Littleton, Colo., were united in marriage July 28, 2007, at Hamlet Union Church in Hamlet, with the Rev. Stephen Humber of Parkview Mennonite Brethren Church of Hillsboro, Kan., officiating.
Parents of the couple are Tim and Cindy McKillip of Hayes Center and Steve and Lou Greenhaw of Lynden, Wash.
The bride was given in marriage by her parents and wore a gown of soft pleats in a marvelous refined white taffeta wrapped horizontally around the strapless bodice, which was tapped with a heavily pearled band. The graceful pleats continued to encircle the apron effect skirt caught in the back closure with satin buttons. The English netting was flecked throughout with sequins and rhinestones as the under skirt appeared from beneath the pleated apron to fashion a skirt and semi cathedral train. The bride created her own bouquet of silk flowers which included calla lilies, hydrangea and beaded pearl sprays wrapped in gold and white ribbon.
The bridegroom wore a black Windsor tuxedo with a white embossed vest and tie. The bridegroom's boutonniere was a single calla lilly with gold ribbon accents made by the bride.
The maid of honor was Amber McKillip, sister of the bride. Bridesmaids were Lindsey Vogts, Amy Cox and Amanda Cox. They wore black challis tea length dresses accented with antique broaches that were a gift from the bride.
The best man was Cameron Greenhaw, brother of the bridegroom. Bridegroomsmen were Rob Haude, Jake Schenk and Lee Waldron. They wore black tuxedos with deep red accenting vest and ties.
Ushers were Austin McKillip, brother of the bride, Ty Messersmith, cousin of the bride, Brian Durowaige, Lane Frick and Michael Beach.
Flower girls were Lillias McKillip, niece of the bride, and Ruth Greenhaw, niece of the bridegroom. They wore matching dresses of white tulle with a bodice of deep red velvet adorned with small pearls.
The ring bearer was Wesley Wach. He wore a black tuxedo with deep red accenting vest and tie.
Candlelighters were Alec McKillip, brother of the bride, Evan Messersmith, cousin of the bride, Larissa Wach and Andrea Wach.
Guest book attendant was Sara Krueger. The personal attendant was Jullian Brown.
Soloist was Kayla Laird and accompanist was Delores Flaming.
Following the wedding, a dinner and dance reception was at the bride's parents home in Hayes Center. Host couples were Dennis and Pat Greenhaw, uncle and aunt of the bridegroom and Don and Carey Harrison and Loran and Nancy Wach.
The bridegroom graduated in 2006 with a Bachelor of Arts in elementary education from Tabor College in Hillsboro, Kan., and is working towards his Master of Divinity at Denver Seminary in Littleton. The bride received her Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology and communication in May of 2007, from Tabor College in Hillsboro and also graduated from the Focus on the Family Institute Internship in Colorado Springs in May 2007. She is pursuing a graduate degree in professional counseling at Denver Seminary in Littleton.
After a honeymoon in Charleston, S.C., the couple is making their home in Littleton.
