Gary Scharf
Gary Scharf, age 48, of Lincoln, formerly of Curtis, died on Dec. 5, 2007 in Omaha.
Devoted father, son, brother, uncle and friend and charismatic and adventurous, he lived his life with humor, love and compassion.
Survived by beloved son, Steve of Lincoln; parents, John and Doris of Curtis; sister, Deb of Omaha; brother, John (Barbara) of Curtis, Bob (Gayle) of Gretna; nieces Kristin, Stephanie, Nichole and Kacie; nephews Kevin and Will and loyal dog, Red, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
He is preceded in death by son Scott; grandparents Walter and Goldine Kendle and Adam and Beatrice Scharf.
After graduating from Medicine Valley High School, he attended the University of Nebraska where he received his degree in Agricultural Economics. Gary stayed very close to his farm roots; he had a passion for agriculture and was an avid animal lover. He worked his entire career in agri-business and regularly went back to help on the farm. Though his job was very demanding and required a great deal of travel, he could always be counted on to find time to work supporting the family farm in his schedule. Gary was also very active in working with youth. He has served as a trustee on the Nebraska FFA foundation and was actively involved in the selection of the Nebraska State FFA Officers. Gary had a successful career as a sales manager in the ag chemical industry.
Visitation will be Saturday, Dec. 8 from 2-5 p.m. at the John A. Gentleman Mortuaries at 14151 Pacific St. in Omaha.
Memorial Services will be held on Monday, Dec. 10, 2 p.m. at the Curtis United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kevin Burkhart officiating.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
