WAUNETA -- Paul Yost, 82, died Sunday (Nov. 4, 2007) at the Heritage of Wauneta Nursing Home.

He was born May 24, 1925, southwest of Champion to John E. and Della M. (Jones) Yost. He attended country school to the eighth grade and assisted his parents in farming.

He was inducted into the U.S. Army on Aug. 11, 1945, where he served in the Coastal Artillery during World War II, He was discharged on March 14, 1947, and returned to Chase County.

On Nov. 14, 1948, he married Bonnie Williamson. They made their home in Wauneta, where they resided until present. He was a jack-of-all-trades and was employed at the Wauneta Coop Oil Company. He was a resident of the Heritage of Wauneta Nursing Home for almost three years.

He was an active participant in Jaycees, the Wauneta Volunteer Fire Department, and the Wauneta City Council. He served briefly as a Wauneta Village Police Officer and was a life-long member of the Nazarene Church.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Paulette Sue; his parents, John and Della; five brothers; and four sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie of Wauneta; son, Roger and wife, Alice of Maxwell; daughter, Janice Satterlee and husband, Steve of Bartlesville, Okla., Paula Staman and husband, Tam of Morrill and Peggy Vlasin and husband, Mike of Wray, Colo.; 12 grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; three great-grandsons; and six step-great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were Wednesday at Riverside Cemetery in Wauneta, with the Rev. Roger Yost officiating.

A memorial has been established to the Heritage of Wauneta Nursing Home.
