ARAPAHOE?-- Marjorie M. Mernin, 96, of Omaha, formerly of Arapahoe, died Monday (Sept. 10, 2007) at Brookstone Village Care Center in Omaha.

She was born Dec. 28, 1910, at Wilsonville to Pete and Alice (Jenkins) Van Cleave.

She was a graduate of Wilsonville High School and University of Nebraska in Lincoln, after which she taught in a one room schoolhouse.

She married Dr. Francis S. "Doc" Mernin on June 30, 1936, in Cambridge. They made their home in Arapahoe where she was a resident for 55 years.

In 2001, she moved to Omaha to be closer to her daughter.

She was an active community volunteer and took many leadership roles in Arapahoe Women's Club and St. Germanus Catholic Church of Arapahoe, where she was a member. She started the Girl Scout program in the Arapahoe area.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dr. Francis Mernin; brother, Dale Van Cleaver; and sisters, Audrey Eisenhart and Fern Jones.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary and husband, Hal Daub of Omaha.

Funeral Mass will be Friday, 10:30 a.m., at St. Germanus Catholic Church in Arapahoe, with the Rev. Robert Barnhill officiating. Interment will be in the Arapahoe Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday, 9 a.m.- 8 p.m., at Wenburg Funeral Home in Arapahoe. Rosary will be Saturday, 9:45 a.m., at the church.
