CAMBRIDGE?-- Bertha Gross, 90, died Saturday (July 14, 2007) at the Cambridge Manor. 

She was born on Dec. 21, 1916, in Antonino, Kan., to George and Martha (Haas) Pfannenstiel. 

On May 21, 1935, she was united in marriage to Marcellus E. Gross in Antonino.  The couple moved north of Holbrook in 1951, from Plainville, Kan.  In 1960, they moved to Cambridge where they made their home.  In 2000, she moved to St. John's New Horizons Assisted Living in Hays, Kan.

She was a member of the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church of Cambridge, the Altar Society, Cambridge Hospital Auxiliary, Hearts and Hands Group and quilted at the Cambridge Senior Center.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Marcellus on Feb. 22, 1984; a daughter, Calysta Rohr; five brothers, Isidore, Wendelyn, Joseph, Alfred and Melvin; four sisters, Theresa, Pauline, Euphrosine and Evelyn.

Survivors include a son, Robert D. Gross and wife, Rosiette of Holbrook; a son-in-law, Francis Lee Rohr of Munjor, Kan.; two sisters, Irene Graf of Cambridge and Florine Chidester and husband, Kenneth of Salt Lake City, Utah; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, 10:30 a.m., at St. John's the Baptist Catholic Church of Cambridge.  Interment will be at St. John's Catholic Cemetery. 

Rosary is today at 7:30 p.m., at the Lockenour-Jones Mortuary in Cambridge. 

Memorial may be left in her name at the mortuary
