CAMBRIDGE?-- Kenneth Robert Phillips, 97, died Saturday (May 12, 2007) at the Cambridge Manor. 

He was born Nov. 24, 1909, near Freedom to Robert Fletcher and Lillian (Allen) Phillips. He graduated from the Nebraska School of Agriculture at Curtis in 1927.

He was united in marriage to Illma Wymore on June 25, 1932, in McCook. They farmed in the Freedom and Orafino area till 1954, when they moved to Oregon. He worked for Boise Cascade Paper Mill until retirement in 1972. The couple moved to Maywood. Later they moved to Cambridge to Heritage Plaza. 

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Cambridge and later Bartley. He was the Distinguished Jordon Medal holder. He was very active member of the Frontier County Historical Society. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Illma in January of 1998; two sons, Marvel "Mert"  in May 2003 and Robert "Bob" Phillips in 2004; and a brother, Stanley.

He is survived by his daughter, Jeanette and husband, Art Phillips-Peters of Niniechek, Alaska; two sons, Preston and wife, Shirley Phillips and Duane and wife, Barb Phillips, all of Cambridge; two daughter-in-laws, Judy Phillips of Curtis and Anita Phillips of Valentine; 18 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be graveside at the Fairview Cemetery in Cambridge on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. Tim Burke officiating. A Masonic Committal will be presented by the Bartley Masonic Lodge No. 228 of AF & AM. 

Memorials may be given in his name to the Frontier County Historical Society.
