DENVER, Colo,- Delmar D. Ebert, 80, died Sunday (March 18, 2007) at his home in Denver after a 15 year battle with prostate cancer.

He was born Oct. 16, 1926, in Norcatur, Kan., to Willie and Henrietta "Babe" (Townsend) Ebert. He grew up near the Nebraska and Kansas border, with many childhood memories in Lebanon. The family moved near McCook and Delmar graduated from McCook High School in 1945.

Delmar served in the U.S. Army, upon returning from his military service, he was employed at Degroffs Department Store. He attended McCook Community College for two years, then transferred to the University of Colorado, where he graduated in 1954.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Dorothy Powell and her husband, Vernon Powell; niece, Kathy Nitsche and infant son, Kelly Lee; and niece, Gloria "Jeannie" Swanstom.

Survivors include his partner of 43 years, H. Wayne Twyman of Denver; niece, Sandy Powell of Phillipsburg, Kan.; nephew, Kelly Powell and wife, Jeri of McCook; great-nephews, Jordan Powell of Kearney and Dakota Baumgartner of McCook; great-niece, Zoe Baumgartner of McCook; and a host of close friends.

A memorial service will be Saturday, 4 p.m., (MST) at the South Broadway Christian Church, 23 Lincoln Street, in Denver, Colo.

Memorials may be left in his honor to the Ebert Family Scholarship Fund or the L. Jack and Marjorie Olsen Scholarship Fund at McCook Community College.
