ARAPAHOE -- Alvena Johanna Anna Wickenkamp, 90 of Elwood, died Sunday (March 4, 2007) at the Elwood Care Center.

She was born June 22, 1916, at Frontier County to John and Johanna Anna (Noltensmeier) Wickenkamp. After her schooling, she worked at home helping with house work and raising other siblings. She also worked in Lexington doing house work for people.

On April 25, 1946, she married William Theodore Wickenkamp at Salem Lutheran Church of Elwood. They made their home southwest of Elwood and farmed for many years. He preceded her in death in 1975. In October of 2004, she moved to the Elwood Care Center.

She was a member of the Salem Lutheran Church of Elwood and later transferred to Trinity Lutheran Church in Arapahoe. She also taught Sunday School for many years at Salem Lutheran Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William T. Wickenkamp; daughter, Linda Wickenkamp; and brother, Arthur Ficken.

Survivors include three brothers, Herman and wife, Edna Ficken of McCook, Raymond and wife, Betty Ficken of Cambridge and Harvey and wife, Corrine Ficken of Eustis; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, 1:30 p.m., at the Trinity Lutheran Church of Arapahoe, with the Rev. David Otten officiating. Burial will be at Salem West Cemetery in rural Elwood.

Viewing and visitation will be Tuesday from 9 a.m. - 8 p.m., at Wenburg Funeral Home in Arapahoe and prior to the service at the church. Condolences or personal reflections can be left at www.wenburgfuneralhome.com.
