Portschy, Sattler wedding

April and David Sattler

OBERLIN -- April Portschy and David Sattler of Herndon, were united in marriage on July 22, 2006, at the United Methodist Church in Oberlin, with the Rev. Doug Hasty and the Rev. Dennis Brown officiating.

Parents of the couple are Leon and Marita Portschy and Thomas and Myra Sattler all of Herndon. Grandparents of the bride are the late Charles and Virginia Portschy and the late Clarence and Anna Mae Ketterl. Grandparents of the bridegroom are Clarence Sattler of Herndon and the late Stella Sattler and the late Dernetta and Herbert Theobald.

Amy Portschy, of McCook, sister of the bride, served as the maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Allie Horinek, of Atwood, Chelsey Schissler of Herndon, and Jessica Riener, of Herndon, the bride's cousin.

Dan Sattler, of McCook, brother of the bridegroom served as best man. Bridegroomsmen were Ross Duerksen, of Manhattan, Kan., Tim Pralle of Manhattan, Kan., and Ryan Bruning of Baxter Springs, Kan., nephew of the bridegroom.

Halley Asbury of Wamego, Kan., served as the flowergirl and Townshend Kurth of Great Bend, Kan., cousin of the bride was the ringbearer.

Candlelighters were Renae Bruning, niece of the bridegroom, and Jax Brumback, nephew of the bridegroom, both of Baxter Springs, Kan. Jeff Leitner of Colorado Springs, Colo., cousin of the bride, Joe Oliva of Topeka, Kan., Keith Dettmer and Neal Dettmer both of Manhattan, Kan., were ushers.

Charlotte Smith of Buhler, Kan., aunt of the bride was the organist and Mary Bunce of Leavenworth, Kan., and Nik Martin of Herndon, were the soloists.

A reception followed the ceremony at the Gateway Civic Center in Oberlin. Gigi Sattler of McCook, sister-in-law of the bridegroom, Cindy Brumback of Baxter Springs, Kan., sister of the bridegroom, and Joe and Jean Leitner of Herndon aunt and uncle of the bride were the host couples. Sydney Brumback of Baxter Springs, Kan., was the guestbook attendant.

The bride is a senior at K-State majoring in Human Resource Management. The bridegroom is also a senior at K-State and is majoring in Mechanical Engineering.

The couple makes their home in Manhattan, Kan.
