BEAVER?CITY -- Gladys Keesler, 88 died Thursday (June 22, 2006) at Phelps Memorial Hospital in Holdrege.

She was born Aug. 1, 1917, at Tryon to Everett and Cora (Heldenbrand) Kyne. She grew up in the Nebraska Sand Hills and graduated from Tryon High School.

On June 10, 1937, she married Lyle Keesler at Julesburg, Colo. She and her husband farmed near Ringold until 1950 when her husband entered the ministry full time. They served the Evangelical Wesleyan Church for 43 years in Nebraska and Wyoming. In the 1950s they served in Beaver City and retired there in 1994. Her husband preceded her in death on Aug. 10, 1998, She moved to Beaver City Manor Assisted Living on Nov. 8, 2004, and to Beaver City Manor on Nov. 8, 2005, where she lived until her death.

She was a member of Evangelical Wesleyan Church at Beaver City.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Lyle.

Survivors include one son, Everett Keesler and wife, Shirley of Fort Wayne, Ind.; two brothers, Marion and wife, Sharon Kyne of El Cajon, Calif. and Jack Kyne of North Platte; one sister, Nora Keesler of Napa, Idaho; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be Monday, 10:30 a.m., at the Evangelical Wesleyan Church in Beaver City with the Rev. Wesley Russell officiating. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery, rural Beaver City.

Viewing and visitation will be Sunday, 1-8 p.m., at Wenburg Funeral Home in Beaver City and Monday, prior to services, at the church.
