STRATTON -- Mabel Betty Parsons, 78, died Friday (June 2, 2006) at her home in Stratton.

She was born November 6, 1927, at Max, the daughter of Elbert and Elizabeth (Whistler) Daniels. She attended school in Max and was a graduate of Max High School.

On May 9, 1948, she married Otto Parsons.

She taught country school before moving to Stratton where she worked as a cook, a teacher's aide, and a playground supervisor for Stratton Public Schools.

She was an active member of Community United Methodist Church in Stratton, the United Methodist Women, and the VFW Auxiliary. She also devoted countless hours as a volunteer at Grandview Retirement Center.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elbert and Elizabeth Daniels; her husband, Otto Parsons; sister, Cleta Seybold and her husband, Bob; brother, Ray Daniels; and daughter-in-law, Joan Parsons; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Parsons, and, Linnie Murry and her husband, Ralph.

Survivors include her four children, Larry Parsons of McCook, Denise Cox and husband, Larry of Kansas City, Mo., Diana Heiden and husband, Gordon of York, and Lyndal Parsons of Black Canyon City, Ariz.; brother, Clyde Daniels and wife, Manota of Stratton; sister-in-law, Stella Robbins and husband, Clarence; brother-in-law, Lloyd Parsons; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; and twenty-three step-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were today at Community United Methodist Church in Stratton with Rev. Brian Fong officiating. Interment followed at Rose Hill Cemetery near Stratton.

Memorials may be given in her name.

Arrangements are under the direction of Forch Funeral Chapel of Stratton.
