CURTIS -- Robert "Bob" George Petersen, 79, of Curtis, died Monday (April 10, 2006) at the Great Plains Regional Medical Center in North Platte.

He was born March 13, 1927 to Jack and Giziah (Decker) Petersen in Ashland, NE.

He graduated from Maxwell High School in May of 1945. In May, after graduation, he was inducted into the U.S. Army. He received Infantry training in Livingston, La. He served in France and Germany. He was honorably discharged on October 19, 1946.

He attended the Grand Island Business College and went to work for Peter Kiewit Company as office manager.

On May 12, 1950, he married Agnes Sigrid Kjargaard of Curtis. Later that year he went to work for the Union Pacific Railroad and worked there for 42 years.

Bob attended the First Methodist Church and was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post No. 95 of Curtis and the V.F.W.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother; and a great-granddaughter, Hope Rae Hartman.

Survivors include his wife, Agnes Petersen of Curtis; daughters, Diane and husband, Bill Eshleman of North Platte and Debra Lee of O'Neil; a son Lon and wife, Barbara Petersen of Elkhorn; a sister, Linda and husband, Dave O'Neel of Eagle; and five grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday at the United Methodist Church, Curtis, with Kevin Burkhardt officiating. Burial is in the Curtis Cemetery withMilitary honors by the American Legion Post No. 95 of Curtis.

Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday at Blase-Wetzel Funeral Home in Curtis.

Memorials may be given to the United Methodist Church of Curtis or the Arrowhead Golf Course of Curtis.
