BEAVER CITY -- Frederick R. Hernandez, 61, died Saturday (Jan. 28, 2006) at Harlan County Hospital in Alma.

He was born May 14, 1944, in Albany, Calif., to Alfred and Annie (Bellamy) Hernandez. He attended school in Oklahoma City, Okla.

He married Shirley Hinrichs in March 1964 in Hastings. The couple divorced in 1978. He married Cynthia Jacobe in Hastings on Feb. 16, 1979. They moved to Oklahoma City in 1991 and Beaver City in 2005.

He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1962 until 1966.

He was a mechanic and a member of the Eagles Club and the First Presbyterian Church of Beaver City.

He was preceded in death by his father; sister, Peggy; and grandson, Jacob Gustafson.

Survivors include his wife, Cindy of Beaver City; mother, Annie Hernandez of El Cerrito, Calif.; two daughters, Michele and husband, Max Hawthorne of Giltner and Connie and husband, James Gustafson of Beaver City; brother, Alfred Hernandez Jr. and wife, Pat of Berry Creek, Calif.; three sisters, Donna and husband, Charles Johnson of Oklahoma City, Pearl Malanche of Indo, Calif., and Lila and husband, James Duke of Oklahoma City; and six grandchildren.

Services will be Wednesday, 2 p.m., at the First Presbyterian Church in Beaver City with the Rev. George Probasco officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery with graveside military honors.

Visitation will be today, until 8 p.m., and Tuesday, 9 a.m.-8 p.m., at Wenburg Funeral Home in Beaver City and Wednesday, prior to services, at the church.
