OBERLIN -- Florence Jones, 102, died Friday (Jan. 13, 2006) at the Decatur County Good Samaritan Center in Oberlin.

She was born Jan. 27, 1903, in Gosper County to Amza Pruden and Ada May Lewis. She graduated from Arapahoe High School in 1922.

She married Raymond H. Jones on July 19, 1926, in Oberlin.

She worked as a teacher, seamstress, store clerk and receptionist. She was a member of the Oberlin United Methodist Church and Royal Neighbors of America.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond H. Jones; brothers, Homer, Lee, Glen and Amza Pruden; and sisters, Bernice Foster, Verna Carter, Esther Pruden, Phoebe Stewart and Hattie Eich.

Survivors include son, Dwayne and wife, Betty Jones of Oberlin; daughter, Shirley and husband, Don Carlisle of Dewey, Ariz.; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be Tuesday, 10:30 a.m., at Pauls Funeral Home in Oberlin with the Rev. Doug Hasty officiating. Interment will be in the Oberlin Cemetery.

Visitation will be today, until 8 p.m., and Tuesday, 8 a.m., at the funeral home.

Memorials are being accepted in her name at the Oberlin United Methodist Church or the Decatur County Good Samaritan Center.
