MAYWOOD -- Rita Cox, 87, died Sunday (Dec. 18, 2005) at Sunset Haven Nursing Home in Curtis.

She was born April 5, 1918, to George E. and Cecilia M. (Bendel) Bates in Maywood.

She married Richard B. Cox on Nov. 9, 1935, in Stockville. He preceded her in death in 1991.

She worked at the O'Connor Store in Curtis, later was co-owner of the Aggie Inn in Curtis and worked for the Maywood Post Office.

She was a member of the Royal Neighbors, the St. James Catholic Church and the Altar Society.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, Clyde, two sisters, Aurice and Deloras; one grandson; and one great-grandson.

Survivors include two daughters, Mae Annette and husband, Bill Schnase of Omaha and Regina "Jeanie" and husband, Gene Eisenhauer of Maywood; two sons, Richard "Dick" Cox of Curtis and Delson and wife, Karen Ann Cox of Aurora; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren

Mass of Christian burial will be Friday, 10:30 a.m., at the St. James Catholic Church in Curtis with the Rev. Ferdinand Boehme officiating. Interment will be in the Maywood Cemetery in Maywood.

Rosary will be Thursday, 7 p.m., at the church. Visitation will be Thursday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m., at Blase-Wetzel Funeral Home in Curtis.

Memorials are being accepted in her name.
