Dillworth A. Johns, 92, died Saturday (Dec. 10, 2005) at Community Hospital of McCook.

She was born Aug. 18, 1913, to Johnnie J. and Clara L. (Crouse) Rankin in Goodland, Kan.

She married Francis Lynn Carpenter on Sept. 24, 1931, in Goodland. He preceded her in death in 1967. She married Horace J. Johns in Miami, Fla., on Dec. 29, 1970. They made their home in Florida until his death in 1975. She then returned to McCook.

She was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Johnnie and Clara Rankin; her two husbands, Francis Carpenter and Horace Johns; and one brother, Clarence Rankin.

Survivors include her children, Johnnie Carpenter and wife, Carol of Salt Lake City, Utah, Larry Carpenter and wife, Barbara of Boise, Idaho, and Glennis and husband, Harold Nagel of Kearney; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

Services will be Thursday, 10:30 a.m., at Memorial United Methodist Church in McCook with the Rev. Dr. Jeff Thurman officiating. Interment will follow, at 2 p.m. MT, at the Goodland Cemetery in Goodland with the Rev. Janet Hernandez officiating.

Visitation will be today, until 5 p.m., and Wednesday, 9 a.m.-8 p.m., at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home in McCook.
