Cecil Beard Decker

ALLIANCE --Cecil Beard Decker, 98, died Sunday (Nov. 6, 2005) at the Good Samaritan Care Center in Alliance.

He was born Nov. 13, 1906, to Chester and Nellie Beard Decker on a farm near Oberlin. In 1920, he moved with his parents to a farm west of Wauneta, where he attended Wauneta Rural High School.

He moved to Washington where he was a mechanic and car salesman.

Upon his return to Nebraska, he married Frieda Stanley. The couple made their home in Benkelman. In Benkelman, they owned and managed their own business. In 2000, they moved to Alliance.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Frieda on April 7, 2005; his parents; his brother, Loide; and his sister, Mildred Brill.

Survivors include daughter, Georgia Stanley and a granddaughter.

Graveside services will be Tuesday, 1 p.m., at Mount Hope Cemetery in Imperial. Visitation is today, until 8 p.m., at Bates-Gould Funeral Home in Alliance.

Memorials are being accepted in his name at the Lakeside School Library Fund at Lakeside Grade School, Lakeside, NE 69351.
