CURTIS -- Mamie Domeier, 89, died Tuesday (Sept. 27, 2005) at Linden Court in North Platte.

She was born Dec. 24, 1915, in Hayes County to Marvin and Effie Phelps Evans. She was the sixth of eight children, three boys and five girls. She attended School Dist. No. 1 in Hayes County. Her mother and older children moved to Curtis so the older kids could attend high school, they returned home on the weekends. Mamie graduated from Hayes Center High School in 1932. She taught in a rural school in Hayes County.

She married Donald Towne on July 15, 1934. To this union two children were born, Donald Leroy and Renetta Elyse "Pinky." She and Donald were divorced in 1956.

On April 14, 1957, she married Jesse E. Domeier. In 1964, they moved to Lincoln where Mamie worked for eight years as printer for the Lincoln School District. She also worked at Shoemaker's Truck Stop as head cashier 13 years before retiring. Jesse preceded her in death in 1992.

She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Curtis.

Survivors include two grandsons, Joel Scheppert and wife, Robbie of Stark City, Mo., and Leon Jones of Snyder, Okla.; five great-grandchildren, Cynthia Decker, Jennifer Thompson, Kelsey and Kasey Jones and Shadrack Sheppert; two great-great-grandchildren, Kaydence Decker and Kyleigh Thompson; one sister, Laura Walker of Curtis; one brother, John and wife, Jenica Evans of Citrus Heights, Calif.; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jesse; daughter, Elyse; son, LeRoy; two brothers, Perry and Andrew Evans; three sisters, Evelyn Merritt, Helen Tidyman and Maudie Lashley.

Graveside services will be Saturday, Oct. 1, 2:30 p.m., in the Maywood Cemetery in Maywood with the Rev. Paul Warneke officiating.

Visitation is today, until 5 p.m., at Blase-Wetzel Funeral Home in Curtis.

Memorials may be given to St. John's Lutheran Church of Curtis.
