INDIANOLA -- Jill Rebecca Bortner and Carl Wells Koenig were united in marriage April 16, 2005, at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Indianola with the Rev. Gary Brethour officiating.

Parents of the couple are Ben and Ginny Bortner of McCook and Tom and Laura Koenig of Chadron.

Grandparents are Mary Walz of Indianola, Gene and Gernadine Bortner of McCook, Margaret Koenig of Gregory, S.D., and Betty Wells of Sturgis, S.D.

Great-grandmothers are Dorothy Bortner of McCook, Helen Schlegel of McCook and Laura Grubl of Sturgis, S.D.

The bride wore an ivory sleeveless gown with a scooped neckline. The bodice was enhanced with a beaded applique design, as was the hemline of the semi-cathedral train. She carried a bouquet of light blue and ivory roses. The bridegroom wore a black tuxedo with a silver vest and ivory rose boutonniere.

Lori Schmidt of McCook served as Matron of Honor. Bridesmaids were the bride's sister-in-law, Lisa Bortner of North Platte, Anne Koenig of Spearfish, S.D., and Kate Bifulco of Sundance, Wyo., both sisters of the bridegroom. They wore floor length dresses of crystal blue and carried bouquets of pink, blue and ivory roses.

The flower girls were Riley Bortner of North Platte, the bride's niece and Ella Bifulco of Sundance, the bridegroom's niece. They wore sleeveless ivory dresses and carried flower balls of blue and ivory miniature roses.

Kyler Bortner of North Platte, the bride's nephew, was the ring bearer. He wore a black tuxedo with a silver bowtie.

The best man was Rory Halveson of Custer, S.D. Bridegroomsmen were Nick Bitz of Custer, Todd Peckosh of Dyersville, Iowa and Matt May of Custer.

Ushers were Wayne Bortner of North Platte and Blaine Bortner of McCook, both brothers to the bride. They were joined by Adam Wilhelmson of McCook. The male attendants wore black tuxedos with silver vests and ivory rose boutonniere.

The bride's personal attendants were Kim Barnett of McCook and Dannette Miller of Indianola.

Providing music for the ceremony were Lisa Bortner, Mary Ann Koenig, the bridegroom's aunt, and Elizabeth and Meg Koenig cousins to the bridegroom, all of Fairfax, S.D. The organist was Crinda McConville of Indianola.

Tyler Cuellar, the bride's cousin, and Austin Miller, the bride's godchild, both of Indianola, were altar servers. The readers included Mike Cuellar of Indianola, the bride's uncle, and Tony Koenig of Fairfax, the bridegroom's uncle. Steve McConville of Indianola was the acolyte. Jim and Clara Waterbury of Bonesteel, S.D., the bridegroom's uncle and aunt, presented gifts.

The guestbook attendant was Kendra Cueller of Indianola, cousin and godchild of the bride. Program attendants were Justin Terry and Cashous Bortner of McCook, both cousins to the bride. Flower attendants included Barb Bortner and Carrol Bortner of McCook, aunts of the bride. Carrol also made all of the flower arrangements. The bride's cousins Mike and Lesa Tines of Culbertson, videotaped the ceremony.

Hosts and hostesses for the reception at the Red Willow County Fairgrounds were Dude and Alice Tines of Venango, uncle and aunt of the bride and Tony and Mary Ann Koenig of Fairfax, uncle and aunt of the bridegroom. The bride's aunts, Millie Cuellar of Indianola and Agnes Richard of Bartley and the bridegroom's aunts, Catherine Brandner of Pierre, S.D., Norma McKinley of Northvale, N.J., and Marie Lebrkamp of Sturgis, S.D., served cake and punch.

Following a honeymoon to Colorado Springs, Colo., the couple is making their home in McCook.
