BEAVER CITY -- Dwight L. Vise, 70, of Beaver City, died Monday (May 9, 2005), at Tri-Valley Hospital of Cambridge.

He was born July 20, 1934, at Wilsonville, to Everett and Florence (McConnell) Vise. He grew up in the Wilsonville area and graduated from Wilsonville High School with the class of 1952. Following graduation he moved to Norton, Kan.

He married Ruth Freede in 1955. They divorced in 1971. While living in Norton he worked for Thompson Sand and Gravel, Ideal Truck Line and Meadow Gold Milk as a mechanic.

He married Pauline Schiltz on Sept. 2, 1972. They divorced in 1978. He moved to Oakley, Kan., in 1970, where he was known as "Ducky" and was employed by Siebert Sand and Gravel and later Allied Sand and Gravel Company until 1990.

He married Ruth (Cozad) Gallentine on Nov. 26, 1982 at Oakley. They moved to Beaver City in 1990 where he was employed at Sands Livestock. He started working for the city of Beaver City in 1991 and retired in 1998. Following retirement he worked at the Senior Center and later at the Beaver City Plaza.

He attended the Christian Church while living in Norton and the Grace Brethren Church while living in Beaver City.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Richard Vise in 1990; and step-son, Shawn Gallentine in 1994.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth of Beaver City; four daughters, Lorette and husband, John Gjeltema of Antioch, Tenn., Karla Vise of Wolfe City, Texas, Susan Wallace of Wolfe City, Texas, and Tamera and husband, Mike Kaltenbach of Oakley; four step-sons, Kirk Gallentine of Salina, Kan., Doug Gallentine and wife, Kim of Norton, Brett Gallentine and wife, Vicky of Prairie View, Kan., and Bob Schiltz and wife, Durena of Garden City, Kan.; four step-daughters, Brenda and husband, Marcus Krontz of Oakley, Janet and husband, Glen Boeger of Colby, Kan., Sharon and husband, Richard Zerr of Oakley, and Connie Schiltz of Colby; three brothers, Wayne Vise and wife, Helen of Springfield, Mo., Robert Vise and wife, Dorothy of Beaver City, and John Vise and wife, Sharon of Boise Idaho; three sisters. Nadean Whittney of Norton, Jean and husband, Jim Kiker of Tacoma, Wash., and Sharon and husband, Tim Tillotson of Wilsonville; 34 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Thursday, at 1:30 p.m. at Grace Brethren Church in Beaver City with the Rev. Dwain Fowler officiating. Internment will be at Lyle Cemetery at Lyle, Kan.

Viewing and visitation will be today, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Wenburg Funeral Home in Beaver City and prior to services Thursday at the church.
