GRIFFIN, Ga. -- Lila Williams, 80, died Sunday, (May 8, 2005), at her residence in Griffin.

Mrs. Williams was born May 16, 1924 in Palisade, Neb., daughter of the late Frank Roller and the late Bessie Eliza Henderson. She was a homemaker and a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and aunt.

She enrolled in the Women's Auxiliary of the Moose Lodge in 1973 where she was very active. She was initiated into the Academy of Friendship and served for the Chair from 2002 - 2004.

She married her husband, Marvin Williams, on June 13, 1943, at the First Methodist Church in Omaha attended by friends, Raymond Muell and Lorraine Hubbel. At the time of her marriage, she was employed at the Martin Bomber Plant and her husband was stationed at the U.S. Naval Training Station at Farragutt, Idaho.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years; daughter, Cheryl Williams Contreras; brother, Clifford Pearl Roller; infant sister, Shirley Ann Starkey; and son-in-law, Kenneth Sawin.

Survivors include her daughter, Carol Sawin of Lakeway, Texas; sons and daughters-in-law, Bruce and Susan Williams of Tucson, Ariz., and Scott and Sandra Williams of Chattanooga, Tenn.; sister, Golda Zwickle of McCook; son-in-law, Rudy Contreras of Tucson, Ariz.; eight grandchildren, Kenneth Joseph Sawin, Clint Williams Sawin, Lindsay Williams, Ashley Williams, Jason Contreras, Lauren Patey and Russell Patey; one great grandchild; nephews, Gary Zwickle, Michael Zwickle; niece, Dianna and Leroy Meissner; family and many loyal friends.

Friends may visit the family on Thursday, May 12, from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the National Cemetery in Chattanooga, Tenn.
