CULBERTSON -- John Huck, 103, died Monday (March 7, 2005) at El Dorado Manor Home in Trenton.

He was born Dec. 27, 1901, to Jacob and Catherine (Eckhart) Huck in Huck, Russia. In 1907, the family came to America and settled in Baltimore, Md. They then moved to Lincoln, where he attended school. The family moved to Culbertson in 1919, where they worked in the harvesting of beets.

On Dec. 2, 1922, he married Catherine Sitzman in Culbertson. He farmed corn and wheat and his wife raised chickens. They retired from farming in 1968 and moved to Culbertson where they spent the remainder of their lives.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine on April 1, 19990; his parents; two brothers, Jack and Adam; and one sister, Margaret Hergert.

Survivors include a brother, George Huck and wife, Minnie; and three sisters, Rose Spahn and Marie Hergert, all of Lincoln, and Elizabeth Krening of Fort Morgan, Colo.

Services are Thursday, 10:30 a.m., at Trinity United Methodist Church in Culbertson with the Rev. Dan Spearow officiating. Interment will be in Culbertson Cemetery in Culbertson.

Memorials may be given in his name and friends may call at Herrmann Funeral Chapel in Culbertson from 9 a.m.-9 p.m.
