Viola Darlene Trout, 90, died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2005, at Community Hospital in McCook.

She was born Feb. 18, 1914, to Glen and Wretha (Wilson) Scott in Hayes County. She grew up in Hayes Center and graduated from Hayes Center High School in 1932. She taught rural school for six years.

On Aug. 11, 1938, she married Norval R. Trout in McCook at the Methodist parsonage.

They lived in several towns in Nebraska during Norval's teaching career. They moved in McCook in 1982 and she moved to Willow Ridge in 1994 where she made many friends and gave out many daily hugs.

She was an active member of the United Methodist church and served in several District offices for eight years and was on the Conference Board for three years. She was a member of the Federated Women's Club and a craft club for many years. She also volunteered at the Methodist Helping Hand store and the McCook Senior Center.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband on July 17, 1993; a son, Lemoine Trout; two brothers, Homer and Norman Scott; and a sister, Glendola Evans.

Survivors include her daughter, Fauna Ann Allen and husband, Jim of Chewelah, Wash.; a brother, Roland Scott and wife, LaVerna of Emporia, Kan.; two sisters, Glora Clark of McCook and Vira Colson and husband, Jim of Kimball; and a daughter-in-law, Shirley Trout of Rapid City, S.D.; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be given in her memory to Memorial United Methodist Church or McCook Home Health and Hospice.

Visitation will be tonight until 8 p.m., and Saturday 9-11 a.m., at the funeral home. Friends may also go online at www.carpenterbreland.com to extend condolences.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 1:30 p.m., at Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Jeffrey Thurman officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
