CAMBRIDGE -- Alfred G. Rikli, 91, died Wednesday (Dec. 8, 2004) at Cambridge Memorial Hospital.

He was born Aug. 5, 1913, to William Edward and Marie Fredricka (Merkel) Rikli in South Bend. He attended school in the area and graduated from Murdock High School in 1931. He attended Phillips University in Enid, Okla., for two years and later attended business college.

On Oct. 26, 1941, he married Edith Lee. He operated the Red and White Grocery in Hennessey, Okla., for 29 years. He also operated a Western Auto Hardware store for six years. In 1968, he purchased the family farm. The couple retired and moved back to Wilsonville in 1970. He farmed until the couple moved to Cambridge in October of 1994.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church, the Wilsonville Lions Club and was past president of the Drummond/Hennessey Lions.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Bernice Kuehn.

Survivors include his wife, Edith of Cambridge; three sons, Roger and wife, Wanda of Beaver City, Stanley and wife, Roberta of Bencia, Calif., and Edgar and wife, Jennifer of Lexington; two daughters, Roberta Rikli of Fullerton, Calif., and Debra Rikli of Placentia, Calif.; two brothers, Roland and wife, Dorothy of Enid, Okla., and Marcus and wife, Dorothy of Greeley, Colo.; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Services are Monday, 1 p.m., at Trinity United Methodist of Cambridge with the Rev. David Rowe officiating. A private inurnment is planned for Wilsonville Cemetery of Wilsonville.

Memorials may be left in his name at Lockenour-Jones Mortuary.
