OBERLIN -- Melvin J. McIntire, 75, died Friday (Sept. 24, 2004) at Presbyterian St. Luke's Hospital in Denver, Colo.

He was born Nov. 29, 1928, to Joseph and Dori (Dunover) McIntire in West Appleton, Maine. He was raised in Beverly, Mass., and attended grade school and high school in Beverly.

He entered the United States Air Force and Navy.

On March 11, 1957, he married Patty Alexander in Golden, Colo. He lived in Lake Charles, La., Fort Walton, Fla., California, Denver, Colo., and Nebraska. He moved to Oberlin in 1971. He was an aerial photographer for the Aerospace Audio-Visual Service Department of the Air Force.

He was a member of the Oberlin Seventh Day Adventist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Richard McIntire; and sisters, Arlene Caylor and Barbara Palm.

Survivors include his wife, Patty McIntire; son, Michael McIntire of Kearney; daughter, Rosemarie and husband, Scott Schmehr; four brothers, Albert of Keystone Heights, Fla., Durward of Necdah, Wis., Reginald of Clay Center, Kan., and Dennis of Cheifland, Fla.; two sisters, Margaret Fillmore and Margie Whitaker; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Services are Tuesday, 2 p.m., at the Bassetville Cemetery in rural Oberlin with the Rev. Jim Martin officiating.

Visitation is today until 8 p.m., and Tuesday, 8 a.m.-8 p.m., at Pauls Funeral Home in Oberlin.

Memorials may be given to the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Oberlin.
