SIDNEY -- Glenn Ralph Sutton, 86, died Saturday, June 19, 2004, at Memorial Health Center in Sidney.

He was born Nov. 22, 1917, to Ray and Mabel (Wright) Sutton southeast of Rushville. He was raised on the family farm and graduated from the 8th grade from Rushville School.

He moved to Minatare, Lincoln and Gordon before entering the Army Sept. 9, 1941. He served as a medic in the Philippines and New Guinea during World War II. He received the bronze star and received an honorable discharged Nov. 9, 1945.

On April 14, 1943, he married Irene E. Kruml in Chadron. They spent the majority of their years in the Sidney area where he worked for various contractors from 1951 to 1976. From 1976 to 2000 he was self-employed.

He was a member of the St. Patrick's Church, a past commander and member of the VFW Post 610 and the Carpenter's Union.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Irene in 1988; two brothers; and two sisters.

Survivors include his sons, Jim and wife, Marilyn of McCook and Steve and wife, Margaret of Sapulpa, Okla.; one sister, Helen of Gordon; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Services were Wednesday at St. Patrick's Church in Sidney. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery with military graveside honors provided by the American Legion Post No. 17, VFW Post 610 and DAV Chapter 40.

Memorials may be given to the Memorial Health Center or St. Patrick's' Catholic Church.

Gehrig Funeral Home of Sidney was in charge of the arrangements.
