Irma Marjorie (Wegener) Friehe
Irma Marjorie (Wegener) Friehe passed from this life to be with her Lord Sunday, March 21, 2004, at the Nebraska Heart Institute in Lincoln at the age of 80 years. Irma was from Macon.
Irma was born Jan. 10, 1924, to August Fredric and Mildred Elize (Rathe) Wegener in Norton, Kan. Her family moved to a farm northwest of McCook when she was five years old. Irma was baptized at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Norton in 1924 and confirmed in 1939 at the Peace Lutheran Church in McCook. She transferred church membership to the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Minden in 2000.
On Sept. 15, 1946, Irma married Ellsworth William Friehe in McCook, where they were blessed with four children. They lived in McCook until they moved to Cambridge in 1976, and made Macon their present home in 2000.
Irma enjoyed quilting and had made quilts for all her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed playing pitch and domino's with her grandchildren and other family members. Irma was a great cook and passed her cooking talents to her grandchildren. Her grandchildren will always remember and cherish the camping trips with their Grandma and Grandpa. Irma's family was very important to her.
Irma Friehe was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother and Christian. All that knew her found strength and purpose in her faith and love and will miss her.
Irma is survived by her husband, Ellsworth; three children, Janet Gilbert and husband, Michael of Kansas City, Mo., Mark Friehe and wife, Dee of McCook and Linda Dallman and husband, Dudley of Macon. She also leaves behind three brothers, Harold Wegener of Fresno, Calif., Eldon Wegener of Denver, Colo., and Gene Wegener of Bellevue; and three sisters, Nina Wagner of Culbertson, Oana Bamesburger of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Donna Greene of Denver, Colo. Irma was also blessed with five grandchildren, Mischa Gurley of Olive Brand, Miss., Joshua Golbert of Memphis, Tenn., Lisa and Scott Friehe of McCook, Alicia Dallman of Macon and many nieces, nephews and friends. Irma was preceded in death by her daughter, Kay Lorraine Friehe in 1965; her parents; three brothers, Milton in 2003, Kenneth in 1996 and Duane in 1988; and two sisters, Lucille in 2002 and Joanne in 1999.
Funeral services will be at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Minden on Friday, March 26, 2004, 10 a.m., with the Rev. Donald Becker officiating. A second service will be the same day in McCook at Peace Lutheran Church, 2:30 p.m., with the Rev. Randy Wahl and Rev. Donald Becker officiating. Burial will be at the Memorial Park Cemetery in McCook. Visitation will be at the Layton Funeral Home in Minden Thursday, 3-5 p.m., and 7-8 p.m., and at Peace Lutheran Church in McCook one hour prior to the funeral services.
