Nellie Lucett (Wear) Halley

Nellie Lucett (Wear) Halley, 83, of McCook, formerly of Curtis, died Sunday, Jan. 18, 2004, at Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook. She was born April 30, 1920, to Ira and Christy Ellen Adkisson Wear at Ingham. She was married to Gerald J. Halley, on June 26, 1935 at Elwood. After marriage she and Gerald farmed south of Curtis, in Frontier County for many years. She moved into Sunset Haven in Curtis in 1993 and in 1995 she moved to Hillcrest in McCook. Gerald preceded her in death on May 23, 1999. She was a past member of the Extension Club and Social Club in Curtis. She had been a Girl Scout and 4-H Leader in the past. She and Gerald enjoyed square dancing for many years and Lucett also enjoyed quilting.

Survivors include three daughters, Thelma and husband, Rodney Carpenter of McCook, Peggy Halley of Cambridge and Ellen and husband, Stuart Perkins of Seymour, Tenn.; one son, Marvin and wife, Beverly Halley of Farnam; one sister, Lewise Smallfoot of Gibbon; nine grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren; and many friends at Hillcrest Nursing Home.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband on May 23, 1999; two sisters and four brothers.

Graveside funeral services will be Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2003, 11 a.m., at the Arbor Cemetery in Stockville with Pastor Danny Strange officiating. Burial is in Arbor Cemetery. Visitation is today 1-9 p.m., at Blase-Wetzel Funeral Home in Curtis.
