Timothy 'Tim' Gilpin

Timothy Allen "Tim" Gilpin of Cambridge died at his home at the age of 53 on Dec. 29, 2003.

Tim was born in Denver, Colo., Jan. 22, 1950, to Roger and Ruth (Cazine) Gilpin. He grew up in the Denver, Ft. Collins and Loveland, Colo., area. Tim graduated from South High School in Denver. He received his bachelor of science degree from Colorado State University in psychology.

Tim loved the outdoors; he loved to fish, travel and carpentry. Tim loved to build things. He loved it so much that he moved to Cambridge in 1995 and began the Gilpin Construction Company as a carpenter and residential builder. His final project was the Green Dream Home in McCook. It was publicized as an environmentally friendly home. On Sept. 2, 2000, he was united in marriage to Sharon (McKinney) Herman.

Tim was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon of Cambridge; step-children, Brian Rock of Cambridge, Jeff Rock of Ft. Collins, Tom Rock and Jennifer Rock, both of Seattle, Wash., Kerilyn and Papa Ngom, Pamela Herman, all of Irving, Texas, and Thomas Herman of Baton Rouge, La.; four grandchildren, Ella and Chloe Rock and Alexis and Leighton Scott.

Funeral services are at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Cambridge, 11 a.m, on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2004, with Pastor David Rowe officiating. A private family inurnment will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, family asks memorials be left to the National Brain Tumor Foundation.
