LEBANON -- Betty Jo McCashland Orvis, 79, died Tuesday (Nov. 18, 2003) at North Platte.

She was born Jan. 18, 1924, south of Lebanon, to Francis Lloyd and Elsie Gay McCashland. She lived on the family farm until she was 11. The family moved to Lebanon and she attended school there.

On July 24, 1941, she married George H. Orvis in Oberlin. They lived on a farm between Wilsonville and Lebanon and in the early 1960s moved to Lebanon. George continued to work the farm until he retired, due to ill health.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George in 1991; son, Gaylord in 1999; and two sisters, Glenva McCashland Orvis and Mildred McCashland OHare.

Survivors include two daughters, Cheryl and husband, Kenneth Ostrander of North Platte and Brenda and husband, Frank Moore of Duncanville, Texas; three sisters, Vada Huntsman of Utah, and Donna Hardin and Sharon Wolzen, both of Oxford; daughter-in-law, Jackie Orvis of Longmont, Colo.; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.

Services will be Monday, 2 p.m., at the Lebanon Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Keith Theobald officiating. Interment will follow at the Lebanon Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Great Plains Hospice in North Platte.
