NORTH PLATTE -- Lee E. Peters, 88, died Thursday (Dec. 18, 2003) at Linden Court Care Center in North Platte.

He was born Oct. 25, 1915, to Lloyd and Anna (Reiter) Peters in Indianola. He grew up on a farm north of Indianola and attended the Indianola School System.

On Oct. 9, 1938, he married Clara Klein in McCook. He began working as a mechanic for EM Sliger Motor Company before purchasing and operating Peters Dairy Creme in 1955. The couple spent their married lives in McCook, retiring in 1975. In retirement he was associated with Herrmann Funeral Home and the McCook Monument Co.

For many years he was on the volunteer fire department.

He was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church in McCook since 1938.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Floyd Peters and Lawrence Peters; and eight sisters, Violet Creasman, Wilma Hein, Merritta Howard, Cleo Nelms, Jean Oliveri, Ida Mae Sitzman and two infant sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Clara of North Platte; three daughters, Donna Sailors and husband, Don of McCook, Phyllis Dowling and husband, Terry of North Platte and Kathy Larson and husband, Larry of Wichita, Kan.; one brother, Dale Peters of North Platte; one sister, Elsie Mansell of Spokane, Wash.; one sister-in-law, Anna May Peters of North Platte; seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Services are Monday, 11 a.m., at Peace Lutheran Church in McCook with the Rev. Randy Wahl officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in McCook.
