HASTINGS -- Dale A. Dack, 85, died Thursday (OIct. 16, 2003) at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital in Hastings.

He was born July 30, 1918, to Frank and Myrtle (Laster) Dack in McCook. He attended school in rural McCook.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He worked as a mechanic in McCook for several years and retired from Wilson Certified Foods Inc. after serving 25 years as a truck driver. Following his retirement, he worked for Titan Meat Supply out of Omaha and worked for 12 years in Custodial Services for School District 15 in Hastings and delivered groceries to the elderly for Jack and Jill Grocery.

On Aug. 17, 1984, he married Virginia Aldrich.

He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, the American Legion and the Veteran's of Foreign Wars.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Alma Yeager Dack; three brothers and one sister.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia of Hastings; four daughters, Donna Hopkins of Aurora, Colo., Bonnie Roberts of Hastings, Shirley Hittner of Juniata and Jule Wiseman, also of Juniata; three sons, Marlin Aldrich of Hastings, Terry Aldrich of Grand Island and Darryl Aldrich of Hastings; 16 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Services will be Monday, 10:30 a.m., at Grace United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jim Miller officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Gardens.

Visitation is Saturday, noon-9 p.m., and Sunday, noon-9 p.m., with the family present from 7-9 p.m., at Brand-Wilson Funeral Home, 505 N. Bellevue, Hastings.
