Walter Carl Niemeier

ARAPAHOE -- Walter Carl Niemeier, 90, died Friday (Oct. 3, 2003) at Cambridge Manor in Cambridge.

He was born Oct. 27, 1912, to Ernest and Minnie (Mues) Niemeier in Holbrook. He was raised north of Holbrook and attended school at St. Matthews School. He graduated in 1927.

On Nov. 22, 1945, he married Alice May Stagemeyer at St. Matthews Lutheran Church Parsonage. The couple made their home on a farm north of Holbrook, where they farmed for the next 48 years. In 1993, they retired and moved into Holbrook. He was a member of the Holbrook Lyons Club, St. Matthews Lutheran Church and later transferred to the Trinity Lutheran Church of Arapahoe.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Alice; one sister, Sophie Mock and one brother, Herman Niemeier.

Survivors include one daughter, Vicki and husband, Earnest Turpin of Imperial; one brother, Clarence and wife, Norma Niemeier of Holbrook; and two sisters, Louise Lemmon of Fort Collins, Colo., and Malinda Niemeier of Arapahoe.

Services are Tuesday, 10:30 a.m., at the Trinity Lutheran Church of Arapahoe with the Rev. Carl Lilienkamp officiating. Interment will be at St. Matthews Cemetery in Holbrook.

Viewing and visitation was Oct. 5 and today, 9 a.m.-8 p.m., and prior to the service at the church.

Memorials may be given in his name to the St. Matthews Cemetery.
