Marie 'Mary' Frances Hajek Cahoj
ATWOOD -- Marie "Mary" Frances Hajek Cahoj, 93, died Thursday (Sept. 25, 2003).
She was born Aug. 16, 1910, to Frank and Agnes (Steiner) Hajek on a farm north of Pilsen, Kan., in Marion County. She attended grade school at the St. John Nepomucene School in Pilsen. She graduated from Lincolnville High School in 1928.
In October of 1930, she married Anton Cahoj. The couple made their home on a farm west of Beardsley, Kan. She also lived in Benkelman and Bird City before becoming a resident of the Good Samaritan Home in Atwood.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Anton, in 1970; her parents and one brother, Albert.
Survivors include one brother; Lamar and wife, Rose Ann Hajek of rural Atwood; and three sisters-in-law, Mildred Hajek of Lost Springs, Kan., Alice Faimon of McDonald and Evelyn Cahoj of Colby, Kan.
A Mass of Christian burial is Saturday, 10 a.m., at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Atwood with the Rev. Damian Richards officiating. Interment will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Atwood.
A parish vigil and Christian Mothers rosary will be recited, today, 7:30 p.m., at the Williams Funeral Home Chapel in Atwood.
Visitation is today, 1-9 p.m., at the funeral home.
Memorials may be given in her name to the Atwood Good Samaritan Center and left at the funeral home.
