Lyn R. Johnson

SARGENT -- Lyn R. Johnson, 67, died Friday, July 25, 2003, at his home from diabetes complications.

He was born Oct. 14, 1935, to Samuel and Velda (Rucker) Johnson in Norcatur, Kan. He grew up and graduated in Danbury.

On June 16, 1955, he married Lois Ludlow. He began his teaching, coaching and administrative career in 1954, with a permit from McCook Junior College and continued to complete a doctorate from the Mississippi University in 1985, with credits earned from summer school, night classes, workshops and papers written. He was in the office of the superintendent until his retirement in 2000.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Velda and one brother, Francis.

Survivors include his wife, Lois; his father, Samuel and wife, Norma of Denton, Texas; one son, Oren and wife, Sonia Johnson of Sargent; two daughters, Suzan Johnson of Lincoln and JoLynn and husband, Gary Crow of Arnold; and seven grandchildren.

There were no services.

A scholarship fund has been established in his name.
