Ella Mae Jackson

CAMBRIDGE -- Ella Mae Jackson, 88, died Monday (Sept. 10, 2001) at the Cambridge Manor.

She was born May 1, 1913, at Bloomington to George and Amelia (Ruhs) Grotfeld. She graduated from Wilsonville High School in 1929. She went on to Normal Training. She taught in rural school in district 56. She continued to take summer courses from Kearney State Teachers College. On Dec. 26, 1934, she married Charles "Donnie" Jackson at Holdrege. They farmed south of Holbrook until their retirement in June of 1979, when they moved to Arapahoe. He preceded her in death in 1988.

She was a member of and active in the Church of Christ of Arapahoe with Bible study and women's circles.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donnie; an infant son; one daughter, Sharon Jackson; and one grandson, Jeff Klinkebiel.

Survivors include one daughter, Marilyn and husband, Paul of Cambridge; one son, Larry of Holbrook; one sister-in-law, Ruth Grotield of Alma; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services will be Thursday, 10:30 a.m., at the Church of Christ in Arapahoe with the Rev. Tim Burke officiating. Interment will be at the Wilsonville Cemetery.

Memorials may be given in her name and left at Lockenour-Jones Mortuary of Cambridge.
