Leonard Tidyman

CURTIS -- Leonard Tidyman, 91, of Curtis, formerly of Maywood, died Sunday (Sept. 9, 2001) at the Sunset Haven Nursing Home in Curtis.

He was born March 29, 1910, at Thornburg to William Milton and Magdalena Johanna (Schmeltzer) Tidyman.

On May 6, 1933, he married Xertha Adelle Winters at McCook. He farmed for a short time before going to work for Frontier County on the road maintenance crew, where he worked for more than 30 years. He had resided at Sunset Haven for four years. He attended the Christian Church at Maywood.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Xertha; one brother, Oscar; three sisters, Ruby Russell, Lela Tidyman and an infant sister; and one granddaughter.

Survivors include one daughter, Beulah Fort of Hutchinson, Kan.; four sons, Milton of North Platte, Roy of Green Forest, Ark., Glenn and wife, Betty of Sutherland, and Larry and wife, Carla of Laurel, M.D.; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be Friday, 10:30 a.m., at the Maywood Christian Church in Maywood with the Rev. Dale Heimer officiating. Interment services will be at 1:30 p.m. at the Riverview Cemetery in McCook.

Visitation is today until 9 p.m., and Thursday, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Blase-Wetzel Funeral Home of Curtis.

Memorials may be given in his name to the Sunset Haven Nursing Home, or the Maywood Christian Church.
