Viola Madsen Vap

BOULDER, Colo. -- Viola Madsen Vap, 87, died Wednesday (Nov. 14, 2001) at Boulder Community Hospital in Boulder.

She was born June 29, 1914, at McDonald, Kan., to Edward and Mathilda (Hokenson) Madsen. After her high school graduation she moved to Herndon where she taught school.

In 1937 she married John A. Vap. They made their home on a farm north of Atwood before moving to Boulder in 1949. She was employed by the University of Colorado Dean's Office of Arts and Sciences, the Boulder Travel King, and at Centennial Conferences.

She was a member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church and the Altar Society, both of Boulder.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, John in 1991.

Survivors include two daughters, Vanice J. Famme and husband, Joe of Arlington, Va., and Llewellyn Dee Plache and husband, Kurt of Boulder; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial services will be Saturday, 10 a.m., at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Atwood with the Rev. Damian Richards officiating. Interment will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Atwood.

Visitation is tonight until 9 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home of Atwood.

Memorials may be given in her name to the Rawlins County Historical Church Fund.
