Mildred Faye Zink

INDIANOLA -- Mildred Faye Zink, 92, died Sunday (Dec. 30, 2001) at the Cambridge Manor Nursing Home in Cambridge.

She was born Oct. 3, 1909, in Red Willow County to W. H. Meyers and Luetta (Helm) Meyers.

She grew up in the Red Willow community and graduated from Red Willow High School in 1927. She graduated from McCook Junior College and taught elementary grades in Wilcox and in the rural district northwest of Indianola.

On Aug. 5, 1931, she married Aulis Zink at her parents' home in Red Willow. They farmed near Indianola until moving into Indianola in 1963. In 1948, they were honored as the Nebraska Farm Family by the Lincoln newspaper.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church at Indianola for more than 50 years and was active in the United Methodist Women organization and served on several church boards. Sh was a member of the Red Willow Ladies Extension Club and was state president of the Nebraska Council of Extension Clubs from 1957-59.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Aulis on Oct. 13, 2000; and one son, Wayne Zink in February 1993.

Survivors include one son, Roger and wife, Nona Zink of Indianola; one daughter, Joyce and husband, Walter Jones of Urbandale, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be Wednesday, 2:30 p.m., at the United Methodist Church in Indianola with the Rev. Art Phillips officiating. Interment will be at the the Cedar Grove Cemetery at Indianola.

Friends may call Wednesday at the church in Indianola. Memorials are being accepted in her name.
