Audrey M. (Black) Searcey

LIBERTY -- Audrey M. (Black) Searcey, 80, died Tuesday (Jan. 15, 2002) at the Goldcrest Retirement Center in Adams.

She was born March 18, 1921, on a farm near Liberty to Arthur and Pearl (McKamey) Black. She spent her childhood there, graduating from Liberty High School in 1939.

On June 20, 1940, she married Darrell Dean Searcey at Marysville, Kan. They lived on a farm south of Liberty. He preceded her in death on Oct. 22, 1986, and she moved to Beatrice in 1986.

She was an office worker at the Beatrice State Developmental Center until retirement.

She was a member and past employee of Christ Community Church at Beatrice, and was a former member, organist and choir member at the Liberty Christian Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Darrell; an infant son, Jimmy; one brother, Dean Black; and one sister, Ellamae Baker.

Survivors include two sons, Jerry and wife, Jane Searcey of Kearney and Michael and wife, Linda Searcey of McCook; one daughter, Cindy Searcey of Lincoln; one brother, Robert and wife, Mildred Black of Waterloo, Iowa; three brothers-in-law, Clarence Baker of Beatrice, Bernard and wife, Beatrice Searcey of Highland, Calif., and Gene Searcey of Denver, Colo.; one sister-in-law, Mary Louise Black of Wymore; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services will be Friday, 11 a.m., at Liberty Christian Church with the Rev. Jim Hackel officiating. Burial will be at Liberty Cemetery.

Visitation is today at Laughlin-Hoevet Funeral Home in Wymore and will resume Friday at the church one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Nebraska Christian College.
