Viola Mae (Hale) Raburn

CAMBRIDGE -- Viola Mae (Hale) Raburn, 89, died Wednesday (Jan. 16, 2002) at Cambridge Manor in Cambridge.

She was born Sept. 7, 1912, at Colt, Ark., to Joseph Henry and Myrtle May (Brothers) Hale.

On Jan. 15, 1926, she married Floyd E. Raburn in Quitman County, Miss., and lived in Birdie, Miss. From 1929-46, they lived in Decatur County, Kan., Lebanon and Bartley. In 1946, they moved to Cambridge

She worked at Cambridge Memorial Hospital for 15 years. She was a member of the Baptist Church and has been a member of Trinity United Methodist Church since 1928. She was also a member of Martha Circle and Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Floyd; one sister, Marie; one brother, Roy; two sons, Floyd Junior in infancy and Darold; and three great-grandsons, Joshua Jones, Casey Raburn and Hunter Westadt.

Survivors include two sons, Joe and wife, Lorene Raburn of Cambridge, and Harold and wife, Marion Raburn of Holdrege; two brothers, William B. and wife, Mary Sullivan of Titusville, Fla., and Chester and wife, Peggy Sutherland of Rockport, Texas; three sisters, Nola Opal McAlister of Earle, Ark., Mary and husband, John Hansen of Judsonia, Ark., and Eula Elliott of Chattanooga, Tenn.; one sister-in-law, Billy Raburn of Berryville, Va.; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Services were today at the Methodist Church in Cambridge. Interment was at the Fairview Cemetery.

Lockenour-Jones Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
